155 Young Moldovans Selected for EU–Government Internship Program, Will “Carry Forward Transparency and Citizen-Centered Governance,” Says Janis Mazeiks

About 155 people will begin paid public service internships through the fourth EU–Moldova Joint Internship Program. At the launch event, Prime Minister Dorin Recean encouraged young people to get actively involved and help modernize public administration.

“We’re professionalizing the public administration and preparing a new generation of young leaders who are trained, energetic, and motivated to modernize and empower the state on our path to EU accession. I’m convinced that only together can we build a European state with strong and professional institutions,” emphasized Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

EU Ambassador to Chisinau, Janis Mazeiks, also expressed confidence that many participants would continue to play a key role in strengthening Moldova’s public institutions and promoting the reform agenda.

“These young interns will carry forward the values of transparency, efficiency, and citizen-centered governance—some of the EU’s fundamental values,” stated the head of the EU Delegation in Moldova.

The program aims to develop professional skills, offer practical experience, and ease the transition from the education system to the labor market. It also includes regular training sessions, seminars, and workshops. These aim to strengthen both theoretical and practical knowledge of public administration, particularly in the context of European integration.

Internships last two months under the EU Delegation Program, while those in the Government Program must complete 480 hours over three to six months. Graduates who earn the highest rating may get entry-level public positions without prior professional experience. The program also places graduates in the Service Reserve Corps, where they remain eligible for employment for one year.

The Government of the Republic of Moldova, the Council of Rectors, and the EU-funded project Moldova is Europe – Support for EU Integration implement the program under a Memorandum of Understanding.
