National Prize 2024 laureates to receive 100,000 lei each. Along with the financial award, the country’s leadership will present them with diplomas and medals.
List of Laureates:
- Maria Mocanu – singer, folklorist, writer, journalist, and People’s Artist. The award will recognize her remarkable contribution to promoting national values.
- Sergiu Galben – visual artist. The prize will honor his prolific work in the field of fine arts and his significant impact on promoting cultural values nationally and internationally.
- Nicolae Dohotaru – General Director and Principal Conductor of the National Opera and Ballet Theater “Maria Biesu,” People’s Artist, Knight of the “Gloria Muncii” Order, and Master of Arts. He will receive the medal for outstanding achievements in developing national culture, promoting artistic values, and cultural management.
- Ion Ciutac – Doctor Habilitated in Medical Sciences, university lecturer, and coordinator of emergency surgery at the “Sfanta Treime” Municipal Clinical Hospital. The National Prize will be awarded for his exceptional achievements in surgery, being the founder of a new field: laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery, which opened major new horizons in treating two severe pathologies—acute cholecystitis in high-risk patients and destructive acute pancreatitis.
- Denis Nica – Doctor Habilitated in Physical Sciences, university lecturer at the “Iurie Perlin” Department of Theoretical Physics, Moldova State University, head of laboratory, and lead researcher at the “Evghenii Pokatilov” Nanomaterials Physics and Engineering Research Laboratory at Moldova State University. He will be recognized for his significant contributions to developing the fundamental theory of thermal transport in nanostructures, promoting Moldova’s scientific image worldwide, and his scientific cycle “Phononic Engineering in Graphene and Semiconductor Nanostructures.”
- Nicolae Negru – writer, playwright, political analyst, and editorialist. The distinction will honor his national message and the depth of his literary, dramatic, and journalistic work, which explores the tragedies of 20th-century Bessarabia, as well as his autobiographical book “A Hostile Offspring”.
- Serghei Tarnovschi – Emeritus Master of Sports, Olympic medalist, world and European champion. The award will acknowledge his exceptional performances and contributions to promoting Moldova’s image.
- Sergiu Cumatrenco – film producer and distributor. He will be honored for his outstanding merits and contributions to distributing and promoting Moldovan cinematographic art, as well as his efforts to develop cultural heritage.
