Chisinau Showcased at One of the World’s Largest Exhibitions, IMEX Frankfurt 2025

Chisinau took part in one of the world’s largest exhibitions, IMEX Frankfurt 2025, held in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. More than 10,000 visitors registered for the event. Mayor Ion Ceban, currently on a working visit to Germany, visited the municipality’s stand on Thursday.

“I visited Chisinau City Hall’s stand today, and I’m proud that, in recent years, we’ve managed to invest and make great progress in this sector together with our team,” Ceban wrote.

City Hall actively promoted Chisinau as a growing tourist destination and invested in improving tourism infrastructure. As a result, between 2022 and 2024, the number of tourists rose from 28,600 to 66,300, and the average stay increased to 3.6 days. Individual tourist visits reached approximately 231,100, growing by 25–30% annually.

The rise in tourism brought significant benefits to the local economy—boosting revenues for local businesses, creating jobs in hospitality, transport, and entertainment, and attracting investments.

Chisinau City Hall’s tourism campaign highlighted the city’s unique attractions and cultural heritage and strengthened public-private partnerships to support tourism.

Each year, IMEX hosts about 150 countries and over 3,000 exhibitors.

Ion Ceban also met with Mannheim Mayor Christian Specht a day before. Together, the two city halls developed a new public square in Mannheim named Chisinauer Platz in honor of the Moldovan capital.
