The Embassy of the United States of America in Chisinau has launched the “50 States in 50 Weeks” campaign to showcase the diversity of the United States as part of preparations to mark 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.
Each week, the America House Chisinau cultural center presents the story of one US state, highlighting its accession to the Union, geographic location, and distinctive features. The campaign traces the country’s development from the original 13 colonies to the 50th state.
“We will share historical moments and surprising facts along the way. Those who want to learn more about the American states can follow America House Chisinau, which will host weekly presentations dedicated to each of the 50 states throughout the campaign,” the embassy wrote on its Facebook page.
The Republic of Moldova and the United States established diplomatic relations in February 1992, shortly after the United States recognized Moldova’s independence on December 25, 1991. The United States opened its embassy in Chisinau in March 1992, and the Republic of Moldova opened its diplomatic mission in Washington, DC, in December 1993.
