In Chisinau, there are cases when “persons in the status of diplomats of the Russian Federation quickly arrive on the left bank of the Dniester, in Transnistria, and are engaged there not only in diplomacy.” This was stated by the Chairman of the Parliament, Igor Grosu.
Regarding the possible expulsion of diplomats from the Russian Federation on the principle of parity, the politician said that this topic is being worked out by those who can make appropriate decisions, AGERPRES reports.
“We have enough cases when persons in the status of diplomats of the Russian Federation, having arrived in Chisinau, quickly reach the left bank of the Dniester in Pridnestrovie. And they are not only engaged in diplomacy there. We know about it, and they know that we know about it. Now, yes, of course, we will evaluate the amount of work that they have here and make a decision on this matter,” the speaker said.
As for the timing of the decision to expel the diplomats, Grosu explained that as soon as the authorities are ready, they will announce it and inform their Russian colleagues.
Moreover, he stated that in Transnistria, “there is a group of so-called diplomats who cannot be considered only as such, and their activities belong to a completely different area.”
“This belongs to the sphere of special services, and they know about it. We will have to study each case separately. Yes, there were cases when citizens from the Russian Federation, who could not justify the purpose of their visit to the Republic of Moldova, were denied entry into the country. We have enforced special entry filters for certain citizens and certain profile visitors,” the official added.
He referred to this “profile” of citizens who participated or are participating in military conflicts in Syria, Crimea, Donbas, Ukraine, Central Africa, Libya, and other countries.
