Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu will be presented at the NATO summit in Vilnius next week. During the meeting, a joint declaration of the bloc regarding the Republic of Moldova will be signed.
Popescu said at a press conference that we would only be able to learn about the content of this statement after the organization of the meeting.
“Within the framework of the meeting, there will also be a ministerial meeting where I will represent the Republic of Moldova. We expect that at this Summit, some signals of support for the Republic of Moldova will be adopted in the final NATO declaration. But it is being discussed at the last hundred meters within NATO, and the exact text of this declaration will be known after the final press release is published,” – Popescu explained.
The foreign ministers of Georgia and Bosnia will also attend the NATO meeting next week.
The head of the Estonian government, Kaja Kallas, said in a recent interview for Europa Liberă that the decision to join NATO belongs exclusively to Moldova. At the same time, according to her, our country received the status of a candidate for EU membership because it is located next to Ukraine.
