A direct flight connecting the capitals of Greece and Moldova may be launched shortly. It was discussed in Athens by Moldovan President Maia Sandu during a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
“During the discussion, we agreed to do everything possible to open direct air communication between our capitals at the beginning of next year. I discussed with Prime Minister Mitsotakis the issues of economic cooperation and attraction of Greek investments, including in the context of reconstruction of cities in the south of Ukraine,” the president of Moldova specified.
The head of state announced that our country is ready to send 56 firefighters in the coming days to help put out the devastating fires Greece is facing, as it has done in previous years.
“We stand in solidarity with friendly countries when necessary,” the president added.
Also, Moldovan President Maia Sandu invited Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to visit Moldova.
The head of state said she appreciated the Greek authorities’ decision to open an embassy in Chisinau and invited Prime Minister Mitsotakis to visit Moldova.
“Last but not least, I thanked the Greek partners for supporting Moldova’s accession to the EU. The discussion organized yesterday by the Greek Prime Minister with the countries of the Western Balkans, Ukraine, and our country – states that aspire to become EU members – is a positive signal that we have strong friends in the European Union who support us in our European journey,” the president said.
Yesterday, at the invitation of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Moldovan President Maia Sandu attended a meeting in Athens that brought together officials from the Western Balkan states, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Ukraine, and European Union leaders.
