Parliament Speaker Ihor Grosu yesterday held a meeting with the new head of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) mission in Moldova, Jeff Bryan, the Legislative Branch’s public relations department reports.
The speaker wished the head of the mission success in his post and thanked him for the constant support provided to our country by the American people through USAID.
“We appreciate the support of our partners in Moldova’s European development process. We continue to rely on the generous assistance provided by USAID, which helps us develop and modernize villages and towns across the country,” the prime minister said.
The meeting was attended by the US Ambassador to Chisinau, Kent Logsdon. During the meeting, the officials discussed the parliamentary agenda for the fall session, in which energy security continues to be a priority.
“We need as many green energy projects as possible and attracting investments in this field. Parliament and the government will work side by side to improve the legislative framework, and the experience and support of our friends is important to us,” Grosu said.
The officials also discussed the main tasks for the current year.
“We are striving to fulfill all the conditions for EU accession negotiations. The Parliament has an important role in this process. This year, we also propose to hold local elections according to the highest standards of electoral democracy,” Igor Grosu also noted.
