The team of Moldova’s diplomatic mission to the EU will be expanded in the context of the launch of accession negotiations. The respective draft decision was adopted by the executive branch, zdg.md reports.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI) has the right to initiate procedures to enlarge the staff of Moldova’s diplomatic mission to the EU. It is about 13 new positions in the fields relevant to the negotiations, possible representatives from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Environment, and Ministry of Energy.

The decision followed the European Commission’s recommendation of November 8, 2023, and the European Council’s positive decision of December 15, 2023, to start accession negotiations, including with the Republic of Moldova. To consolidate and deepen Moldova’s experience in the negotiations with the EU, which cover 35 negotiation chapters grouped in 6 thematic clusters, the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Moldova to the EU will be enlarged by 12 posts, to be occupied by representatives of national institutions, including the European Integration Directorate of the State Chancellery and the institutions mentioned above.
