“Taking into account the anti-democratic and speculative character of the referendum initiated for electoral purposes by the incumbent president of Moldova, as well as the risks for the constitutional order of the country that this useless event entails from the European point of view of our country, PDUM has decided to boycott the referendum without participating in the propaganda campaign and calls on the citizens of Moldova not to get involved in the dangerous games of the current government for the sake of the continued existence of our state,” Chicu said in a statement.
According to Chicu, on February 24, 2024, the party’s central executive apparatus approved the decision on PDUM’s participation in this year’s presidential elections with its candidate.
