President Maia Sandu has reacted to the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, stating, “Political violence has no place in our societies.”
She wished the former US president a speedy recovery and commiserated with the friends and family of the man whom the killer murdered.
“I am deeply concerned about the shooting at former President Trump’s campaign event. Political violence has no place in our societies. I wish Donald Trump a speedy recovery and send my condolences to the friends and family of the rally attendee killed in the attack,” her message read.

Donald Trump was the target of an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. As he began his speech, gunshots rang out from a building less than 100 meters from the stage. An individual fired a high-powered rifle at the former president, hitting him in the ear. The killer murdered one spectator. Two others were wounded.
Initial reports indicate that the attacker, a young man from Pennsylvania, was killed by law enforcement.
