Former anti-corruption prosecutor Victoria Furtuna has announced her intention to run for president of Moldova. In a video published on social media, she appears with a dove in her hand and declares:
“I am entering the presidential race as an independent candidate. I am sure professional knowledge and leadership skills will bring peace, tranquility, and prosperity to our common home – the Republic of Moldova!”
Furtuna also stressed that she left the prosecution system on March 11, 2024, accusing state institutions of fabricating and spreading false information against judges who are not loyal to the government. She added that the Information and Security Service (SIS) declared her a “threat to national security.”
