Two TV channels lost their licenses because of their connection with Plahotniuc and Shor

The Council for the Promotion of Investment Projects of National Importance has revoked the broadcasting license of Real Radio because of its connection with fugitive oligarchs Vladimir Plahotniuc and Ilan Shor. The company owns Mega TV and Familia TV.

The Council said the company’s activities and transactions indicate its connection to the Shor-Plahotniuc group.

“The analysis of transactions revealed receipts worth more than 9 million lei from SRL Casa Media Corp (affiliated with the Plahotniuc group) and SRL Horus (affiliated with structures in the Russian Federation). It raises suspicions about the purpose of the transactions and the source of the funds. Meanwhile, the company’s former founders are involved in four criminal cases,” the Council’s decision of August 9 reads.
