Athlete Mihail Latyshev won the gold medal in the weight category up to 90 kg at the Balkan Senior Judo Championship. The competition was in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“We are happy to announce that Border Policeman Mihail managed to win first place in the 90 kg weight category at the Balkan Senior Judo Championship held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. This victory is all the more special as it is the first event after the Olympic Games, and Mihail proved to be a true champion. Through dedication and hard work, you have made us all proud”, reads the message issued by the Border Police.

Victor Sterpu and Maxim Baltat, who secured second place in the 81 kg and 66 kg weight categories, respectively, along with Daniela Tcaci in the 63 kg weight category, attended the event.

Mihail Latyshev made his debut at the Olympic Games in Paris this summer. Georgian Tato Grigalashvili, the reigning world judo champion for the past three years, defeated the 20-year-old Moldovan athlete.
