Canada offers €79 million to Moldova. Where will the money go?

Moldova borrows 120 million Canadian dollars, equivalent to about 79 million euros. Parliament has ratified the agreement, and the Global Affairs Canada Agency will disburse the funds.

The money will strengthen household and refugee resilience, promote sustainable growth by enhancing competition and private sector-led development, and support climate resilience and the transition to green energy.

Authorities will disburse the loan in two tranches, with a ten-year maturity and a three-year grace period.

Officials finalized the loan agreement at the Partnership Platform for Moldova, held in Chisinau on Monday, September 17, 2024, where they reached over ten support agreements for the country.
