On September 24, 2024, in New York, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi held discussions with Alain Berset, the newly appointed Secretary General of the Council of Europe.
During the meeting, they addressed the progress of the Republic of Moldova with the support of the Council of Europe Action Plan concerning children’s rights protection, refugees, combating domestic violence, propaganda and disinformation, corruption, and money laundering.
The Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, stated that the new Action Plan for 2025-2028 will be adopted by the end of this year, ensuring the continuity of reform and development efforts in the Republic of Moldova.

The discussions also focused on the steps of the Republic of Moldova to assume the presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe from November 2025 to May 2026.
