On October 3, 2024, the Cooperation Forum – Private Sector for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will happen in Chisinau. The United Nations (UN) in Moldova and the Foreign Investors Association (FIA) are organizing this event in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
The Cooperation Forum for the SDGs aims to bring together leaders from the private sector, policymakers, and key stakeholders to collaborate and discuss innovative strategies for implementing the Sustainable Development Agenda in the Republic of Moldova.
Achieving the SDGs requires the collective efforts of the UN, the Government, and non-profit organizations, along with significant involvement from the private sector. This collaboration particularly emphasizes the private sector’s capacity to drive change by integrating and implementing Sustainable Development practices within its business processes.
In the context of negotiating the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union, the business sector must enhance its implementation of Sustainable Development policies. Therefore, the Forum will provide insights into starting non-financial reporting for Moldovan companies and outline what the European market expects from local firms concerning compliance with ESG practices (environmental, social, and governance principles) adopted in the EU, along with general sustainability standards.

Foreign investors who are members of the Foreign Investors Association of the Republic of Moldova (FIA) will share their experiences implementing Sustainable Development policies and practices. They will demonstrate how updated business processes enable companies to actively participate in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This experience spans most sectors and can serve as a model for other companies, including small and medium-sized enterprises in the Republic of Moldova.
Participants at the Forum will also have the opportunity to meet and explore potential partnership opportunities with UN Agencies in Moldova. These agencies are already implementing joint projects with the private sector, guiding local companies on Sustainable Development, and are open to expanding these partnerships.
