Moldova stands ready for any scenario after the natural gas transit contract across Ukraine expires on January 1, 2025, according to Energy Minister Victor Parlicov. He made this statement during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Herman Galushchenko, in Kyiv.
The two officials discussed their collaboration in the energy sector, crisis management, and the security of the natural gas stocks stored in Ukraine.
“We are ready to support Ukraine by all available means during this difficult time for the Ukrainian energy sector due to Russian attacks. We also express our gratitude to Ukraine and its people for their resilience against Russian aggression, which helps protect peace in Moldova and throughout Europe,” Parlicov stated.

Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko assured Parlicov that he secured Moldova’s natural gas stocks in Ukraine, making them accessible always. He emphasized that ensuring energy security in the region remains a priority.
“The energy security of our region and the European continent as a whole depends on our unity and determination to oppose the aggressor, particularly in the energy sector,” Galushchenko stressed.
The Energy Ministry reported that Moldova stores 47 million cubic meters of natural gas in Ukraine, which accounts for half of its security stock.
Additionally, the ministers discussed their cooperation in electricity supply, noting that Moldova and Ukraine operate as a single block within the ENTSO-E European continental system. They discussed maintaining balance in the energy system during Russian attacks and outlined the necessary measures.
