Delegation of Romanian Senate’s committee on foreign affairs visits Moldova

The Moldovan Parliament is hosting a visit from Romania’s Senate Committee on Foreign Policy delegation, led by its president, Senator Titus Corlatean. The Romanian officials meet with Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and the Foreign Policy and European Integration Committee members. Discussions focused on Moldova’s domestic agenda and progress toward European integration.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu expressed gratitude for Romania’s consistent support in Moldova’s European Union integration efforts. He highlighted several recent projects supported by Romania, including the contract signing for the design and construction of a bridge across the Prut River, connecting Ungheni in Moldova with Ungheni in Romania. This bridge will bring Moldova closer to the EU highway network. Other projects include the 20 school bus donations and nearly 100,000 books to libraries across Moldova. “Romania has always stood by Moldova, and we thank you for your unwavering support, especially now as we advance in the accession process and approach the upcoming referendum this autumn,” said Grosu.

He also emphasized the importance of parliamentary cooperation, particularly between the legislative bodies of Moldova and Romania. “We have a strong collaboration between Moldova’s Parliament, Romania’s Senate, and the Chamber of Deputies, as evidenced by today’s visit. We seek to learn from Romania’s experience in the EU accession process, and your expertise in aligning legislation with EU standards will help us move forward more swiftly in negotiations,” Grosu added.
