(PHOTO) Radu Budan – the first Moldovan to conquer “Mount Everest in ultra-running”

Moldovan athlete Radu Budan successfully finished the “Self-Transcendence Race” in New York, USA. He completed the 3,100 miles (about 5,000 km) in 52 days.

With this result, Radu Budan finished fifth place and became the first Moldovan to complete this distance.

The Moldovan athlete has an impressive record, having completed a 10-day race in New York, covering 1,040 kilometers, along with over 43 other races within a year.

Ten years ago, another athlete from the Republic of Moldova attempted to cover this distance. In 2014, Veaceslav Dodonu ran 2,700 miles (approximately 4,345 kilometers).

This year’s “Self-Transcendence Race” featured 12 athletes from 10 countries. The competition, also known as the “Mount Everest of ultra-running,” takes place annually from August 30 to October 20.
