Government reshuffles: Efros could be replaced at the Interior Ministry by one of Recean’s advisers

According to IPN, a meeting between PAS MPs, Cabinet members, and President Maia Sandu took place Wednesday evening. Participants reportedly discussed replacing several ministers, but no final decisions were made, ProTV and Infotag reported, citing sources within the ruling party.

The sources indicated that Adrian Efros, appointed Minister of the Interior in July 2023, is expected to be replaced by Sergei Diaconu, an adviser to the Prime Minister. Before joining Dorin Recean’s Cabinet, Diaconu held various positions, including Secretary General of the Ministry of the Interior.

“These decisions are not final. Discussions are ongoing to identify solutions for improving the executive’s efficiency,” the sources stated.

ProTV contacted Diaconu for comment, but he declined, saying, “I cannot comment until Mr. Recean makes the official announcements.”

Earlier this week, reports suggested the government would announce Cabinet reshuffles by the end of the week. However, Prime Minister Dorin Recean recently stated he will make the announcements during a press conference on Monday, November 18.
