Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization stated that the Republic of Moldova has doubled its apple exports to the European Union this year, demonstrating impressive growth in the fruit sector.
“In the first ten months of this year, the value of our apple exports to the European Union amounted to 228 million lei – an impressive growth, more than twice as much as in the same period last year,” Alaiba revealed.
The official stated that our farmers’ dedication and hard work resulted in this success. “We are supporting them by ensuring their access to new, larger, and more competitive markets,” he said.

Another decisive factor is the extension of trade liberalization with the EU for another year. It opens up huge opportunities for producers here at home. “The figures speak for themselves: the share of EU countries in apple exports has increased from 0.4% in 2021 to 18% in 2024. This progress is more than just figures. It is clear proof that our products are of high quality and can be a source of national pride on a global scale”, summarized the Deputy Prime Minister.
