Moldova is committed to strengthening its role as a credible partner capable of addressing global challenges. Speaker Igor Grosu made this statement at the opening of the inaugural Moldova Security Forum. The Parliament’s Communication and Public Relations Department reported it.
Grosu highlighted that, during Ukraine’s 1,000 days of heroic struggle, Moldova has learned critical lessons about its allies and adversaries. The country can no longer hide behind the notion of neutrality, which it maintained for 30 years while neglecting state security institutions. He emphasized that, in recent years, Moldova has faced unprecedented hybrid attacks, particularly during the presidential elections and the European integration referendum. ”
Disinformation, cyberattacks, vote buying, fake bomb threats, and other attempts to destabilize our democratic processes aimed to derail our will and our path to join the European family. However, Moldova stood firm. Our citizens showed remarkable resolve in defending democracy and our European trajectory,” Grosu said.

He also stressed the importance of judicial reform for national security and Moldova’s European integration. “Unfortunately, the justice system has not done enough to combat vote fraud and corruption. It is where we must draw a line and correct our course. Corruption erodes public trust in institutions and creates vulnerabilities that external actors can exploit. Moldova cannot be secure if authorities delay corruption cases or allow those responsible to go unpunished,” he remarked.
Another key security priority is modernizing the National Army. “It is in the best interest of all Moldovans to have a modern, well-trained Army capable of fulfilling its primary mission: protecting Moldova’s peace, sovereignty, and territorial integrity,” Grosu added.
The Moldova Security Forum, held on November 19-20, addresses the country’s most pressing national and regional security challenges. The Forum brings together officials, politicians, representatives of international organizations, and experts from various sectors. Moldova cannot be secure if authorities delay corruption cases or allow those responsible for fraud to remain unpunished.
