Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that Moldova is ready to face a difficult scenario in which the Cuciurgan power plant will no longer benefit from Russian natural gas at low prices for electricity production, BANI.MD reports. According to the official, despite high costs and possible difficulties, the situation will not escalate into a major crisis.
“It will be complicated, it will be expensive, but it will not be catastrophic,” Dorin Recean told Exclusiv TV, referring to the government’s efforts to ensure the continuity of electricity supply.
He also explained that the authorities have prepared alternative plans to reduce dependence on traditional energy sources, including diversifying imports and increasing energy efficiency.
