Three people have been arrested after the rabbi of the Jewish community in Abu Dhabi, Zvi Kogan, a citizen of Israel and the Republic of Moldova, who was living in the UAE based on Moldovan citizenship and had resident status, was found dead. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the following information from the Emirati authorities.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova was informed by the authorities of the United Arab Emirates about the death of the rabbi of the Jewish community in Abu Dhabi, Zvi Kogan, a citizen of Israel and the Republic of Moldova, who was living in the UAE based on Moldovan citizenship and had resident status. According to the Emirati authorities, after the discovery of the victim’s body, three people were arrested,” the ministry’s representatives said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it is in contact with the authorities of the United Arab Emirates and Israel to clarify the circumstances of the case and support the victim’s family.

“We convey our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones, standing by their side in deep sorrow. We strongly condemn any act of violence and anti-Semitism, reaffirming the Republic of Moldova’s commitment to promote peace, tolerance, and respect for the fundamental rights of all citizens. We are in contact with the authorities of the United Arab Emirates and Israel to clarify the circumstances and support the victim’s family. Representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Abu Dhabi are closely monitoring the investigation”, the MFA message reads.

Recall that on Sunday, November 24 this year, the office of the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, confirmed the disappearance of Zvi Kogan, a citizen of Israel and Moldova, who was serving as assistant to the chief rabbi of the UAE. Diplomatic channels informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova about the citizen’s case.
