A delegation of Members of Parliament from the Republic of Moldova visited the United Kingdom to discuss strengthening cooperation in key areas with British officials. The Moldovan delegation emphasized the “unprecedented openness and support” they received during the visit.
The delegation included Radu Marian, Chair of the Committee on Economy, Budget, and Finance and Chair of the Friendship Group with the United Kingdom; Tatiana Cunetchi, Chair of the Committee on Control of Public Finances; and Marcela Nistor, Member of Parliament.
In London, the MPs held meetings with members of the House of Lords, ministers of state, and other British officials. “We are witnessing unprecedented openness and support from the UK, and it is crucial to capitalize on this for the benefit of our citizens. Meeting with as many MPs and Lords as possible allowed us to present the situation in Moldova, highlight the Kremlin’s ongoing attempts to interfere in our elections, share our plans, and explore how the UK can assist us as a global leader in security and democracy defense,” stated Radu Marian.

The agenda included discussions with key figures such as Emily Thornberry, Chair of the Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee; Tan Dhesi, Chair of the Parliament’s Defense Committee; Jessica Morden, Chair of the Labour Party; Conservative MP Wendy Morton, Shadow Minister for Europe; Caroline Dinen, Chair of the Media and Culture Committee; Lord De Mauley, Chair of the House of Lords International Relations and Defense Committee; Karen Bradley, Chair of the Home Affairs Committee; and Lord Coaker, Minister of State for Defense, among others.
The talks focused on resilience-building in the face of the evolving regional security landscape, combating disinformation, strengthening media capacity—including a BBC program to modernize Moldova’s public television—enhancing cybersecurity, and fortifying national institutions.
“The UK’s support in cybersecurity has been instrumental in helping us withstand highly aggressive Russian cyberattacks during October and November, targeting our electronic systems critical to election operations. Over the years, the UK has allocated tens of millions of euros to assist Moldova, and it is essential to ensure this support continues and expands,” noted Radu Marian.
The MPs also met with Moldovan citizens living in London, discussing current developments in Moldova and the government’s efforts to drive progress and advance the European integration agenda.
