Moldova has taken and will continue to take all necessary steps to address the energy challenges affecting citizens on both banks of the Dniester River. Within its internationally recognized borders, Moldova remains committed to the well-being of all its citizens, regardless of ethnic origin, language, political preferences, or residence. The Reintegration Policies Bureau emphasized this in response to a statement by Vitaly Ignatyev, the so-called foreign affairs minister of the breakaway Transnistrian region.
“The constitutional authorities of Moldova are engaging with various international partners to prevent and manage potential crises,” the Reintegration Policies Bureau stated. “We maintain open communication with Tiraspol, especially to address any energy or humanitarian issues that may arise in the eastern districts. Our priority is to resolve technical problems promptly while avoiding propaganda and political exploitation of the situation.”
Earlier, Ignatyev proposed that Moldova and the Transnistrian region jointly request gas supplies from Russia and Ukraine.
