Moldova and India signed several agreements on migration, energy, and diplomatic cooperation during Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi’s visit to New Delhi. Popsoi and his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, formalized the agreements.
The officials signed a declaration of intent on migration to expand labor mobility and foster the exchange of expertise. Popsoi also signed Moldova’s accession to the International Solar Alliance (ISA), strengthening ties in green energy and the broader energy sector.
The two foreign ministries signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance diplomatic skills and facilitate the exchange of experience between Moldova and India.
In their official meeting, Popsoi and Jaishankar highlighted the positive development of political-diplomatic dialogue and the growing trend in bilateral trade. Popsoi emphasized Moldova’s commitment to strengthening agriculture, education, culture, and health cooperation. He also stressed the importance of inter-ministerial political consultations and continued dialogue on trade and investment, reiterating Moldova’s commitment to its European Union integration objectives.

The ministers discussed liberalizing the export of Moldovan fresh fruit to India and announced plans to finalize the implementation timeline. This decision represents a major step toward market diversification and boosting the global competitiveness of Moldovan products.
The talks also explored the entry of an Indian aviation operator into Moldova’s market. Both sides agreed to negotiate an aviation agreement to encourage Indian investment in the sector.
The discussions further addressed regional and global security issues, including the Russian Federation’s war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
Popsoi and Jaishankar also attended the official inauguration ceremony of Moldova’s Embassy in New Delhi, marking a new milestone in bilateral relations.
Popsoi’s visit to New Delhi on December 15-16, at Jaishankar’s invitation, focused on advancing political-diplomatic, economic, and trade cooperation between the two countries.
