The Republic of Moldova and Turkey will sign an agreement on migration cooperation. The Parliamentary Commission for Foreign Policy and European Integration has approved the consultative opinion to initiate negotiations on the document.
The agreement aims to enhance collaboration in managing migration processes and will establish a framework for:
- Regulating the stay of foreign nationals,
- Preventing and combating illegal migration,
- Strengthening cooperation on labor migration
- Exchanging relevant information.

The document focuses on combating illegal migration while adhering to international law and each state’s obligations. Both parties will ensure respect for human rights and safeguard the confidentiality of personal data exchanged during cooperation.
The agreement will be valid for five years, with automatic one-year extensions unless otherwise terminated.
Moldova has signed similar agreements with Ukraine, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Switzerland, and Azerbaijan.
