The Energy Ministry has issued a circular urging central and local public authorities to implement concrete measures to improve energy efficiency in public institutions. This call follows Moldova’s declaration of a 60-day emergency due to the ongoing energy crisis.
The Ministry emphasized the urgent need to reduce peak-time energy expenses and mitigate risks caused by the crisis. The Ministry provided public authorities with a detailed list of organizational and technical measures that require minimal investment and must be implemented immediately without compromising citizen comfort.
To reduce electricity consumption, the proposed measures include:
- Using natural light and limiting artificial lighting in line with labor regulations,
- Replacing incandescent bulbs with energy-efficient LED bulbs,
- Installing motion sensors in high-traffic areas,
- Unplugging chargers after devices are fully charged, and
- Disconnecting unused electrical appliances to eliminate standby energy consumption.
