Moldova will accede to the International Convention for the Suppression of Counterfeiting Currency

Parliament will ratify the agreement on Moldova’s accession to the International Convention for the Suppression of Counterfeiting Currency. The Committee on National Security, Defense, and Public Order members reviewed the draft law and will propose its approval at the plenary session.

The agreement will enable cooperation between Moldova and other states to combat currency counterfeiting within the country and internationally. Under the convention, currency fraudulent manufacturing or altering, circulating counterfeit money, and importing, receiving, or obtaining counterfeit currency will be considered criminal offenses.

The International Convention for the Suppression of Counterfeiting Currency, signed in Geneva on April 20, 1929, has already been ratified by several League of Nations member states.
