The Moldovan government has chosen a candidate for the energy minister position following Victor Parlicov’s dismissal in December 2024. Prime Minister Dorin Recean, in a video statement, declined to disclose the candidate’s name or the timeline for the appointment.
“We have the candidacy, and we will appoint him when the time comes,” Recean said.

In early December 2024, President Maia Sandu dismissed Parlicov at Recean’s request. The government also removed Energocom Director Victor Binzari and Sergiu Tofilat from the Moldovagaz Board of Observers.
Prime Minister Recean has temporarily taken over the energy portfolio. Meanwhile, State Secretary Constantin Borosan oversees the coordination of administrative and organizational processes at the Ministry of Energy.
