Border Police, in collaboration with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, dismantled a criminal group involved in facilitating illegal migration in the eastern part of the country. The joint apprehension operation occurred on December 30-31, 2024, within the jurisdiction of the Border Police Sector “Volintiri.”
On the night of December 30-31, Border Police patrols identified and intercepted two illegal border crossings, detaining nine Ukrainian citizens who had crossed illegally from Ukraine into the Republic of Moldova.
Investigations uncovered a criminal group operating in both countries, charging between $3,500 and $10,000 to facilitate illegal border crossings. The group provided logistical and informational support to those seeking to migrate illegally.

Through immediate coordination with Ukrainian authorities, officers apprehended a group member, a Moldovan national, on Ukrainian territory. Authorities handed the individual over to Moldovan officials for further criminal investigation.
