The political representatives from Chisinau and Tiraspol have postponed their meeting, which was planned as part of the Transnistrian settlement talks. Chisinau, which proposed 17 January for the meeting, announced that Tiraspol blocked the discussion in the “1+1” format. The Reintegration Policy Bureau (BRP) noted that the meeting aimed to establish a mechanism for Chisinau to provide humanitarian aid to residents in the region.
Chisinau had requested the meeting to be held at 10:00 on Friday, expressing readiness to meet earlier in the week due to the matter’s urgency.
“At this meeting, Chisinau intended to secure Tiraspol’s response regarding coal deliveries from Ukraine to maintain operations at the Moldovan Thermoelectric Power Plant, identify urgent needs for hospitals, schools, and social centers, ensure ambulance access from the right bank of the Dniester to transport critically ill patients from the region, and create an ad hoc crisis management group,” the Reintegration Policy Bureau stated.

Tiraspol, however, insisted on holding the meeting on the left bank of the Dniester, citing alleged safety concerns for its delegation in Chisinau. As an alternative, Chisinau proposed conducting the meeting via videoconference.
