Drivers to Pay Less for Green Card Insurance Following Market Liberalization

Drivers traveling abroad by car will benefit from lower costs for purchasing Green Card insurance due to the partial liberalization of the insurance market.

“Good news for many drivers traveling abroad and buying the Green Card. It is becoming significantly cheaper,” stated MP Radu Marian.

He explained that the reduction in costs is a result of the new law on partial liberalization of the insurance market, which took effect on January 14. For example, the price of a 15-day Green Card policy has dropped from approximately 700 lei last year to 433 lei this year.

The exact cost of the policy depends on factors such as the vehicle type and the driver’s accident history. Drivers can check policy prices through insurance company websites or mobile applications.

The Green Card is a mandatory insurance required for all Moldovan citizens traveling by car to other countries.
