The Republic of Moldova could become a member of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) in the first quarter of 2025 or, at the latest, by the summer of that year. This statement was made by the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), Anca Dragu, in an interview with Bloomberg at the beginning of January, as reported by Rupor.md.
“Moldova is getting closer to becoming a SEPA member. It should happen in the first quarter of this year or, at the latest, by summer. Moldovan residents will save at least 20 million euros annually thanks to lower transaction costs,” Dragu stated.
