Moldova and Israel Strengthen Bilateral Relations Through Strategic Cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi welcomed Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gideon Moshe Sa’ar, to Chisinau. The two officials held a joint conference. After the meeting, Popsoi stated that his Israeli counterpart’s visit strengthened bilateral relations.

“It is a special honor to welcome you today in Chisinau at a historically significant moment for relations between the Republic of Moldova and the State of Israel. Your visit marks a new chapter in our bilateral dialogue and reflects the strong friendship and cooperation between our countries, built on shared values, ongoing dialogue, and strategic interests,” said Popsoi.

Sa’ar highlighted the visit’s symbolic importance, stating, “I am proud that the first embassy I opened as foreign minister is the Israeli Embassy in Moldova.”

The officials discussed expanding cooperation in key areas, including the economy, technological innovation, agriculture, natural resources, and renewable energy.

Both sides expressed interest in developing joint projects in solar energy and energy efficiency to help diversify Moldova’s energy sources. They also welcomed the relaunch of the Moldovan-Israeli Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, a crucial mechanism for implementing bilateral projects.

Additionally, the ministers explored opportunities for collaboration in education and healthcare, emphasizing joint initiatives. They highlighted the importance of academic exchanges and professional training to enhance expertise and competitiveness in both countries. The officials also agreed to organize cultural events and research projects on the history of the Jewish community to promote intercultural dialogue.
