Authorities detained Alexandru Dodon, the brother of former President Igor Dodon, upon his arrival at Chisinau International Airport and took him in for questioning. The General Prosecutor’s Office announced the detention today.
Violina Moraru, the spokesperson for the General Prosecutor’s Office, confirmed the incident and stated that the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office would provide further details.
Alexandru Dodon is allegedly involved in an illicit enrichment case.

Authorities handcuffed Alexandru Dodon, the brother of former President Igor Dodon, at Chisinau International Airport on the evening of Wednesday, February 5. According to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, he is accused of complicity in illicit enrichment in a case initiated in 2022.
Igor Dodon responded the same day, calling the accusations against his brother politically motivated and linked to his case.
