Regional security is crucial for Moldova’s continued efforts to join the European Union. The State Secretary for European Integration, Rodica Crudu, emphasized this at the European Union Enlargement Conference in Tallinn, Estonia.
Moldova’s representative outlined the country’s European agenda priorities and preparations for opening accession negotiations during Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU.
“Regional security is essential for advancing EU accession efforts, and maintaining this momentum is a shared responsibility. We need our dedication and the European Union’s commitment,” Rodica Crudu stated.

The Tallinn conference provided a platform to discuss EU enlargement, future strategies, and the Union’s support for candidate countries.
The Estonian Foreign Affairs Ministry and the International Centre for Defence and Security organized the European Union Enlargement Conference. The event gathered high-ranking officials from Albania, Estonia, Romania, and Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the bilateral screening for Chapter I, “Free Movement of Goods,” under Cluster 2, “Single Market,” of the Action Plan is taking place in Brussels. Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gherasimov is leading Moldova’s government delegation.
Moldova applied for EU membership in March 2022. In June of that year, the country gained candidate status. In December 2023, the European Council approved the start of accession negotiations for Moldova.
