Krasnoselski frightens parents who enroll their children in Romanian-language schools: “They will call you occupiers”

The self-proclaimed authorities in Tiraspol are launching a new scare tactic. Vadim Krasnoselski warned parents enrolling their children in Romanian-language schools that they might later be called “occupiers” by their offspring.

The separatist leader spoke about the new history textbooks for graduating students. Referring multiple times to World War II, he accused the constitutional authorities of distorting past events.

“I am addressing the parents who send their children there to study. Fathers, mothers. You have your heroes in your family. You undoubtedly have survivors and have the deceased. Pay attention to what history your children are learning and what will become of them when these children call you occupiers. That is the most terrible thing.

It is done on purpose. Moldova is doing this on purpose. The ideologists are doing this on purpose. I have nothing against Romanian-language education—it is the parents’ right. But I have a scrupulous attitude towards history,” Krasnoselski said.

Several pro-Russian figures in Moldova have expressed dissatisfaction with the new history textbooks. Some politicians objected to Maia Sandu’s photo on the cover, while others claimed the books glorified fascism.

The decision to change the study materials was strongly criticized in Tiraspol and Comrat. Shor’s administration in Gagauzia even submitted a petition demanding their withdrawal.
The Association of Historians of the Republic of Moldova stated that this is not the first time political forces have manipulated the content of history textbooks. According to researchers, the books meet educational standards.

The Jewish Community of Moldova also voiced concerns over the new study materials. Dan Perciun previously stated that they requested an opinion from Yad Vashem – The Holocaust Remembrance Center, to avoid any speculation.
