Gagauzian Deputies Push for No-Confidence Vote Against Executive Committee

Two deputies of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia have initiated a motion for a no-confidence vote against the Executive Committee led by Governor Eugenia Gutsul, reports IPN‘s regional correspondent.

Deputies Alexandru Tarnavschi and Mihail Jelezoglo justified their motion by accusing the Executive Committee of mismanagement, stating that “Gagauzia is suffering losses.” They presented several arguments to support their call for the committee’s resignation.

They submitted the document to Dmitri Constantinov, President of the People’s Assembly, urging him to collect signatures from deputies to initiate the no-confidence vote.

The signatories argue that Gutsul’s leadership is causing Gagauzia’s budget revenues to shrink. In 2024, they expect revenues to drop by 39 million lei—or 10 million lei, excluding VAT refunds—compared to 2023.

Current legislation requires at least one-third of the deputies to propose a no-confidence vote before the assembly can consider it, and a majority must approve it.

Discussions about the Executive Committee’s resignation began on March 14 during a People’s Assembly session. Deputies voiced frustration over the committee’s rejection of several proposals, including an increase in funding for children requiring expensive surgeries.
