Fake bomb scare at Russian Embassy: Police chief suggests possible staging of Nesterovschi’s escape

The head of the National Police, Viorel Cernauteanu, has raised concerns regarding a false bomb alert at the Russian Embassy in Chisinau, questioning the unusual cooperation of Russian diplomats in allowing Moldovan security services to conduct an on-site inspection.

Unusual Response from Russian Diplomats

Unlike previous false bomb threats, when embassy officials refused police intervention, this time, they allowed bomb disposal experts and dog handlers to inspect the premises.

“They always assumed responsibility on their own and declined verification. Now they allowed it, and I wonder: was it intentional to show that there was nothing on the territory?” Cernauteanu told One TV.

His remarks suggest that someone may have orchestrated the incident to shape a specific narrative or serve a diplomatic purpose, possibly in response to the recent expulsion of three Russian diplomats from Moldova.

Investigation Underway

Authorities have launched a criminal case to trace the origin of the bomb threat.

  • Someone made the call from within Moldova’s territory, and investigators are working to identify the suspect.
  • The police are exploring whether the incident was a coincidence or part of a larger scheme amid ongoing diplomatic tensions.
