The Director-General of the Public Property Agency (PPA), Roman Cojuhari, announced that the United States has already transferred the advance payment of $3.2 million. The parties signed the memorandum, which led to the payment. The U.S. designated the funds for purchasing the land of the former Republican Stadium in Chisinau, where they will construct the new U.S. Embassy building.
“The American side has already transferred the advance payment, as outlined in the memorandum, to begin the expropriation process. I am confident that this process will proceed as planned, according to the commitments made,” said Cojuhari.
The PPA director said the government will receive an official decision to start the expropriation process soon, based on the law declaring the project’s public utility.

“The properties and buildings evaluation process on the targeted land will begin. All owners will receive the due amounts based on the actual value of the properties, as required by national legislation,” Cojuhari added.
The U.S. Government purchased the territory of the Republican Stadium for €18 million.
