Over the next five years, the government plans to allocate approximately 400 million lei annually to Moldovan Railways to modernize the railway network and maintain infrastructure.
The Executive approved the creation of a budgetary co-financing mechanism to support the maintenance and modernization of Moldova’s railway system. This mechanism, called the Multiannual Contract for Administration, will formalize the state’s financial contribution to railway renovation projects.
“Under the contract, the state will allocate annual budget funds to repair, maintain, and develop railway infrastructure. The exact amounts will be specified at the time of signing. The contract will last between three and five years and will include clear monitoring mechanisms to ensure responsible use of public funds,” stated the Cabinet of Ministers’ press service.
