Marta Kos begins her official visit to the Republic of Moldova today, May 8. The Government of the Republic of Moldova announces that it will stay in the country until Monday, May 12. MEPs Siegfried Muresan, Daniel Barna, and EU officials accompany the Commissioner. The agenda includes a series of activities and meetings across multiple regions.
- On May 9 in Chisinau, Commissioner Kos will attend the ceremony marking Victory Day over fascism and Nazism, and the commemoration of World War II heroes at the “Eternitate” Memorial Complex. She will participate alongside President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean, and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu. Later, she will sign the Moldova Growth Plan.
- She will also join a public concert celebrating Europe Day and speak with civil society representatives, entrepreneurs, and citizens in the Great National Assembly Square.
- In Ungheni, she will inaugurate the “European Village,” an event showcasing EU-backed projects that deliver tangible benefits to local communities.

- In Radenii Vechi, she will visit local producers and hold discussions with entrepreneurs in the agri-food sector.
- From May 10 to 11, Commissioner Kos will travel to Orhei, Negureni, Edinet, Balti, Comrat, Cahul, and Valeni. She will interact with young people, teachers, local authorities, entrepreneurs, and women leaders from southern Moldova. During these visits, she will launch EU-supported projects, including educational centers, local farmers’ markets, agri-food hubs, and tourism initiatives recognized by the UN.
Government officials emphasize that this visit is happening at a symbolic moment—Europe Day—and reconfirms the European Union’s commitment to supporting Moldova’s European path.
