Message to Civil Servants from Former Swedish Minister and the FBA Director

Moldova’s new generation of public servants can transform the country and lead it forward. Per Olsson Fridh, former Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation and Director General of the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA), shared this view in an interview with IPN. He confirmed that the European Union and Sweden stand ready to remain reliable partners in Moldova’s development.

Young Moldovan public servants acquired European experience through the SPRINT program, which Sweden’s FBA supports. Organizers launched the third edition of the project in January this year.

Fridh noted that public servants who completed the first training module now actively engage as trainers for the next cohort. “Ultimately, we are building a partnership where Moldova will conduct this process independently, and the FBA’s role, along with that of international partners, will evolve,” he said.

He also praised the partnerships Sweden and Moldova have developed across various sectors. He emphasized that Moldova’s EU accession will further strengthen this collaboration. Fridh expressed his hope that Moldova will become a full EU member, reiterating Sweden’s readiness to support its European path.

Through the SPRINT program, public servants under 35 working in the State Chancellery, ministries, and subordinate institutions attend training sessions, participate in study visits to Sweden, and develop research projects focused on improving the efficiency of the public sector.
