The PACE Co-rapporteurs Conduct a Fact-Finding Visit to Chisinau

Co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Pierre-Alain Fridez and Zanda Kalnina-Lukasevica, are conducting a fact-finding visit to the Republic of Moldova from May 26 to 28, IPN reported.

They will meet with President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Parliament leadership, parliamentary factions, the Legal Committee, the Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs, and representatives from the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS), Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Audiovisual Council, Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM), Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP), the Ombudsperson, and civil society.

The PACE co-rapporteurs aim to assess Moldova’s recent political developments, preparations for this year’s parliamentary elections, and progress in key areas such as justice reform, anti-corruption efforts, human rights, media freedom, and parliamentary cooperation.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is one of the two statutory bodies of the Council of Europe, along with the Committee of Ministers. It comprises representatives from the national parliaments of Council of Europe member states and serves as a deliberative body adopting recommendations and resolutions on European policy issues.

The Republic of Moldova has been a member of the Council of Europe since 1995.
