The Republic of Moldova may enter a new stage of agricultural machinery modernization through an expanded partnership with Japan. Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Ludmila Catlabuga discussed the initiative with Japanese officials during a working visit to Tokyo, IPN reported.
Since 2021, Japan has supported over 350 Moldovan farmers through its program, facilitating contracts worth more than 640 million lei for purchasing modern equipment, including tractors, harvesters, and processing lines.
The parties discussed launching the second phase of the project, named MAME 2, and expanding JICA’s support for agricultural processing. They also addressed the promotion of Moldovan wines in the Japanese market and the expansion of commercial partnerships.
