The Consolidated Unit for the Implementation of Projects (UCIP) IFAD is hosting an experience exchange meeting between Moldova and Ukraine in Chisinau from June 16 to 18, 2025. The event aims to explore opportunities for joint projects supported by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
The Ukrainian delegation includes IFAD experts, government officials, and representatives of business associations, who are participating in a workshop to draft a concept note for Ukraine’s first IFAD-funded project.
Alexandra Shian, State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), welcomed Ukraine’s interest in Moldova’s collaboration model with IFAD. She emphasized Moldova’s openness to sharing experiences and best practices.

Iurie Usurelu, Director of UCIP IFAD, presented Moldova’s 25-year partnership with IFAD, which attracted about $300 million in investments and supported over 200,000 people in rural areas.
“These results prove the power of sustainable partnerships in supporting agriculture and rural development,” stated Usurelu.
The Government of Moldova established the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation of IFAD Programmes to manage projects after the country joined IFAD in 1996. The unit implements project components according to procedures approved by IFAD in agreement with the Moldovan government.
