Maia Sandu is spending this weekend in Germany, where she is carrying out working visits in three federal states—Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, and Hesse. IPN reports that according to the Presidency, the visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations, expand economic cooperation, and secure additional support for Moldova’s European integration path.
During the visit, the Hanns Seidel Foundation will award Maia Sandu the Franz Josef Strauß Prize for her consistent efforts in defending democracy. As she recently announced, she will donate the €10,000 prize to preserve the musical legacy of composer Eugen Doga.
While in Germany, President Sandu plans to meet with local officials, including Markus Soder, Minister-President of Bavaria, and Winfried Kretschmann, Minister-President of Baden-Wurttemberg. These discussions will focus on developing Moldova’s relations with these states, particularly in the investment sector, education, and joint projects.
